Rear Admiral Eustine Paul Rucci

After graduating high school, Paul attended Marquette University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950. In 1954 he earned his medical degree from the Marquette University School of Medicine and went on active duty to commence his internship at the Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, and Illinois. In 1955 he was designated a Naval Flight Surgeon and later trained and was certified in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Subsequent assignments in the Naval Medical Department included senior clinical and administrative positions in various Naval teaching hospitals, sea and foreign shore duties, Fleet Surgeon of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet and Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. He was Commanding Officer of the Naval Regional Medical Center, San Diego, California, the world’s largest military hospital complex, before retiring in 1985 after 31 years of Naval Service. His military awards include the Legion of Merit with Gold Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Occupation Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. The Admiral resides in San Diego with his wife, the former Elena Sawyer, enjoying foreign travels, frequent visits to Waukesha and golfing, with six holes-in-one to his credit, while remaining active in many community affairs and civic organizations
