Clara began her teaching career at Waukesha High School in 1927. She taught Algebra and Geometry for 39 years. In the days before guidance counselors were part of the faculty, she willingly filled this need for her students. Clara retired from the Waukesha School District in 1966. In 1930, Clara founded Waukesha’s first Girls Scout Troop. Clara was approached by a new student to Waukesha High School, to start a girls scout troop. She studied the program and decided to get involved. Clara, along with three other staff members at Waukesha High School were able to start two troops in 1930. She later established an endowment fund, which bears her name in support of the local Girls Scout programs. Clara passed away on November 24, 2001 at age 95.
