George T. Tzougros

During high school, George was involved in drama, mixed choir, and madrigal choir.   George earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carroll College in 1983 and a Master’s of Art in Business in Arts Administration in 1987 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.    George is the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Arts Board since 1996.  This state agency nurtures creativity, cultivates expression, promotes the arts, supports the arts in education, stimulates community and economic development and serves as a resource for people of every culture and heritage.    He works with the creative industries, Wisconsin Arts Board members and staff, the Governor, and the state legislature to create funding for programs and services to meet the needs of the citizens of Wisconsin.    George is involved in the Governor’s Council on Tourism, the Cultural Coalition of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Task Force on the Arts and Creativity in Education, Wisconsin Alliance for Arts Education, and the National Creativity Network.   Today, George lives in Madison with his wife Maria and their two children, Theodore and Naida.
