During high school, Cathy was very involved.  Some of the groups that she worked with were the National Honor Society, Choir, Pep Club, and Student Council.   Cathy earned a bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language therapy from Purdue University and a master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.    Cathy worked for the Department of Aging / Senior Services for 11 years.  Since 2008, she has been working for the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County.    In 2005, Cathy was given the Volunteer Center Community Leader Award with her mother, Florence Melster.  Cathy learned from her parents at an early age, the importance of giving back to her community.  She wants to make Waukesha a better place to live and work.    Cathy’s involvement was and continues to be extensive.  She has been part of committees and board positions for United Way, Waukesha Service Club, Waukesha Food Pantry, Training Center, and the YWCA to name just a few.  She serves on numerous county and state committees, as well as the cabinet for the Waukesha County Executive.
