Rear Admiral Carl J. Scichili

Rear Admiral Carl J. Scichili, Class of 1947. During high school, Carl’s activities were football, volleyball, track, sang in Glee Club and Madrigals, Drama Club, and sports editor for the Cardinal Star. Carl attended the University of Wisconsin in 1947 and then transferred to Lake Forest College. He enlisted in the Navy Reserve in 1950. Carl attended Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island in 1953. He was stationed on active duty in Japan and the Philippine Islands. Carl was active in the Navy Reserve for the 35 years. He was appointed a Rear Admiral in the Illinois Naval Militia by Governor James Thompson on October 1, 1985. Carl joined Ziff-Davis Publishing in 1957 until 1977. He also worked for Cahners Publishing for 7 years. In 1990, Carl started his own advertising consulting company. He spent 40 years in the publishing/advertising field. Carl was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and the Republic of Korea Defense Medal. Rear Admiral Carl J. Scichili, INM, currently resides in Lake Bluff, IL with his wife Peg and son, Michael. He says that he owes a great deal too all the great administrators, teachers, coaches, and fellow students who were involved in his life.
