Paul Vrakas, Class of 1945. Following graduation, Paul attended Carroll College for a brief time, after which he worked in Waukesha stores and had his own dance band. He married Evelyn Schroedl in 1951. In 1953 they started Paul’s family restaurant, which was sold in 1993. Paul’s political career began by serving as an alderman from 1960 to 1964. He became the full-time Mayor of Waukesha in 1970 and served for a total of sixteen years (1970-78 and 1986-94). Following retirement, Paul served for 8 years as a County Supervisor with his service in elected office totaling 28 years. Among the many projects during the Vrakas city administration, Paul is most proud of the creation of housing for all income groups, industrial development, Fox River development, central city redevelopment, improving operations at City Hall, and introducing capital projects and program budgeting.
