Carol Christopherson Lombardi

Following her graduation from Waukesha South High School, Carol begain her working career as a secretary in the Waukesha Mayor's office(1954-60). This experience gave Carol an awareness of local government needs. She and her husband Robert, also a member on the WHS Class of 1954, raised three sons who are graduates of South High School. Carol served as President of the Randall PTA(1968-71). Carol had a desire to become an elementary teacher, but financial constraints required her to work prior to entering college.

Prior to launching her political career, Carol served as one of the first reading aides in the Waukesha District, a counselor aide at Waukesha South HS(1973-80), and secretary to the Superintendent/Board of Education(1980-94). After the School District of Waukesha became a unified school district in 1982, Carol served as its first election clerk.

Carol Christopherson Lombardi served on the Waukesha Common Council for two terms before being elected Mayor of Waukesha in 1988. Carol was reelected to a second mayoral term in 2002. During her tunure on the Common Council and as Mayor, she led the transformation of the Waukesha Business District and the Fox River Beautification Project. Carol has been a tireless backer of education issues in the City of Waukesha as well as a former Y-Teen advisor, supporter of La Casa De Esperanza programs and the Salvation Army.

Carol Christopherson Lombardi is the first female graduate of the School Distric of Waukesha to be elected Mayor. She has met the challenges of leading the City of Waukesha, a growing, vibrant community that serves the needs of approximately 100,000 daily.
