Lee Saubert

During high school, Lee was a 3 sport athlete at La Farge, WI. He earned 8 varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball.  

Lee earned a teaching degree from LaCrosse Normal in 1920. Lee started teaching physical education at Waukesha High School in 1920. He retired from coaching in 1953 to become the athletic director.  Lee retired from the Waukesha School District in 1960.   

Lee coached at Waukesha High School from 1920 to 1953. During his tenure he coached football, basketball, swimming, golf, and track. Lee had over 900 game/match victories in his coaching career. He had 6 football conference championships and 4 basketball conference championships. Lee also had one football and one basketball state championship.   

Lee held many patents for athletic devices including starting blocks for track and automatic soap dispensers in locker room showers. He was also responsible for the first night high school football game in Wisconsin by using a white football. Lee was responsible for the design of the Waukesha South field house and pool that you are in right now.  

Coach Saubert passed away in 1969.
