Can You Communicate? Jim McKay was well respected successful in the television broadcast industry, and for many years was the voice of the Wide World of Sports and the Olympics. The Jim McKay Memorial Scholarship awards a high school senior pursuing a communication major with $10,000. Applicants must complete a registration form, and write an essay about a specific topic provided by the scholarship committee. Scholarships are usually awarded to those high school seniors who go above and beyond the normal boundaries of their classmates. This scholarship requires submission of SAT and ACT scores, so you will need to have those tests completed before your application. Academic merit is also considered when determining winners of this award. The deadline for all entries is March 10.

The Knights of Waukesha is a charitable group dedicated to giving back to the community of Waukesha by providing opportunities to its citizens through its college scholarship fund. Started in 2010 by six high school friends (three from Waukesha North and three from Waukesha West) who wanted to give back to their hometown, the Knights of Waukesha Scholarship was created to provide opportunities for advancement to high school seniors from the Waukesha School District. The recipient of the Knights of Waukesha Scholarship must display a dedication to the community, a history of leadership, and a sense of creativity. The Knights of Waukesha is more than just a scholarship. By winning the Knights of Waukesha scholarship, the recipient will have the opportunity to join the Knights of Waukesha network. Current Knights excel in a broad range of industries including business, public service, politics, medicine, and academia. As the recipient navigates higher education and their professional career, the Knights of Waukesha will be there to answer questions and provide assistance where possible. We are dedicated to finding innovative ways to inspire charitable giving that helps increase the opportunity of Waukesha's youth. Competition is open only to graduating high-school seniors who have attended Waukesha North, South, or West for three or more years and will be attending college in the fall. Each year the William Randolph Hearst Foundation sponsors the United States Senate Youth Program for which two high school students (junior or senior) are selected from each state to visit Washington as guests of the Hearst Foundation, all expenses paid. The students must be currently serving in an elected or selected capacity in student body president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, or student council. They are selected on a nonpartisan basis and engage in a series of seminars and briefings with senators, representatives, and officials of the executive and judicial branches of government. In addition, each student selected will receive a $5000 scholarship award, if, within two years after high school graduation, they enroll at an accredited United States college or university, pledging to include courses in government or related subjects to his or her undergraduate program.
